Why Burnout is Worse than You Think

I’ve come to realize this insightful observation...

Having lived through corporate burnout…

Nervously picked off an eyebrow, been attacked with inflammation, broken up a long term relationship and having been emotionally unavailable to my family and friends I care about and rage quit my career…

I came out of it as an awakening moment to later pursue my life’s calling studying and actively practicing what it takes for us to fully express our talents and passionately fulfill who we are meant to be.

Ultimately it’s a quest to understand happiness at a deeper and systemic level, and creating social progress along the way.

The world is going through a form of burnout now - the saying goes: As above so below.

Somewhat like a deep fever transformation process that affects us globally as a species…

And relates to all of us personally.

In truth, I believe it’s not for me to say that burnout is a bad thing. It can be a catalyst for transformation, like it was for me.

And with expertise, if you or someone you know is struggling with burnout, I can definitely help you out of it.

Ultimately it comes down to you taking responsibility for it, amongst all the craziness and injustice you might believe is around you.

I believe burnout is also a form of an awakening process.

And the more it’s left unchecked, the more of a painful process it will be that is persistent and gets you viciously stuck in it like some waking nightmare you might describe as your life.

And what might that look and feel like?

  • Lashing out at the people you care about
  • Waking up exhausted
  • Deeply sad and unmotivated
  • Loss of hope and feeling of despair
  • Uncontrollable anger and then regretting afterward what you say and do
  • Sabotaging your own goals and desires
  • Feeling desperately unheard and alone wishing for some help
  • Coping and biting your own tongue insanely doing things you don’t want to, like your punishing yourself
  • Being drained by the people you care about and feeling unappreciated and guilty
  • Being cold, disconnected and distant
  • Always fighting and reacting to problems

As a Board Certified Master Practitioner of NLP, it’s clear that if you want to change the world, it all starts from within.

But here’s the thing…

Most of us project all the deeper issues surrounding burnout outside…

The anger, frustration, bitterness, unhappiness with behaviors to blame and sabotage those around us completely unconsciously and even sometimes with clear mal-intent.

Not just are you on the path of burnout, you’ve also widened that path for others to create more paths of burnout.

Multiply that by your organization. By your community. By your social movement.

It’s a deep problem that impacts the planet and our entire human species.

And for conscious leaders like myself, it’s no longer viable to keep creating resources, support and change outside like relying on governments and policies or even market forces…

It’s now shifting the narrative to encouraging change on the inside.

It’s adding and infusing consciousness to things like leadership, change making and entrepreneurship…

And then enabling people to express it with their our own talents, passion and clear purpose to add value to this world aligned to our highest values.

I deeply believe we can break the cycle of burnout and create a new cycle of meaningful work, and ultimately happiness in all areas of our life that are important to us.
